Relax – working with crystals to de-stress

RELAX

Twenty first century life is hectic but we can work with crystals to relax and de-stress. We are all go-go-go and on a 24 hour news cycle. We need to relax and de-stress!

These days, it seems like the world is in chaos and we have so much on our shoulders. We’re forced to live (and produce) in a world that gives little regard to the cycles of nature. Stress is scary, and can have many physical effects; just check out this article by Web-MD!

Make no mistake, our bodies do not do well ignoring nature and its rhythms. We close our eyes (and hearts) to the cycle of rest, stillness, growth, and blooming that is evident around us.

Alas, we are 21st century humans with 21st century responsibilities.

The relax crystal kit was designed to help us relax, de-stress, slow down and calm the anxiety that creeps up at times.

Crystals to Relax and De-Stress:

Lepidolite

Lepidolite is a mica stone with lithium in it. Yup- the same lithium that doctors prescribe is in Lepidolite! Work with Lepidolite to calm worry, obsessive and compulsive thoughts, and anxiety. We like to lay Lepidolite on our foreheads (over third-eye) at the end of a long day while taking deep, cleaning breaths.

Howlite

Howlite is a beautiful stone of ascension and peace. Work with howlite to reduce stress, anxiety, tension and to dispel rage. Sleep with howlite to reduce insomnia and ensure a calm, restful sleep.

Peacock Ore

Known as the stone of happiness, we like to work with Peacock Ore to remind us to look for rainbows after rain. Peacock Ore stimulates creativity and blessings. Sometimes we need a change of perspective- work with Peacock Ore to remember that- just like it has many colors- or lives do, too!

Scolecite

Scolecite is a stone of transformation, spiritual awakening, and peace. Work with scolecite to restore balance and peace in your life, and to regain control your happiness. Scolecite is a wonderful stone to sleep with (under the pillow) as an aid to restful sleep.

Garnet

A stone of the root chakra, Garnet is a stone of safety. Beckoning with a whisper of: it is alright- you are safe, secure and held by mother Earth, we included Garnet because sometimes we need to escape the mechanizations of our head and drop into a feeling of safety. Work with garnet to realize that joy, happiness, and security is your birthright.

Dream Amethyst

Dream (or chevron) Amethyst is a beautiful combination of amethyst and white quartz. Amethyst is a member of the quartz family and therefore a master healer. While Amethyst raises vibration, it s also a stone of peace, protection, and connection to Source.

HOW TO WORK WITH YOUR CRYSTALS TO RELAX AND DE-STRESS?

Carry them on you in the provided pouch, place them on your desk or other area of work/production. Place the pouch under your pillow, meditate with your crystals! By keeping the crystals near your physical body, you are allowing their frequency to work with your own, helping you relax and de-stress.

If you need additional help with relaxation, perhaps you would benefit from our coaching program, a reiki session or restorative yoga. We’d love to discuss your life with you- and help you develop a plan of rest and relaxation.

Why understanding blending factors is important for aromatherapy

If you’ve ever tried to mix a few of your essential oils together to create a blend, then you know how important it is to understand how much of each product you should use.

learn blending with Jill Griffin

Early on in my essential oil exploration I would get so excited about creating a blend.

I would purchase my apothecary amber glass bottle to create my mixture and then I would carefully fill the bottle with jojoba carrier oil. I would then guess on how many drops of my favorite essential oils to use. The result was either so strong I felt like If I applied the mix I was going to stink up the room, or so light that I continued to pour more drops into my creation using most of the essential oil bottle. Since I was also interested in the therapeutic benefit and not just the scent, I wondered if I was wasting the essential oil or causing a safety concern.

When I began by aromatherapy studies, I gained an understanding of the Aromatic Strength of an essential oil.

I learned the concept of top, middle, and bottom notes and how the scent may change over time due to air exposure. Many experts talk about Blending Weights or Blending Factors and how to use this concept as you begin to create your aromatic products for both therapeutic benefits and aroma. It requires simple math but the end result is worth it.

For the beginner it can be as simple as selecting 2-3 essential oils and sniff each one individually with your nose.

Which smells the most potent? Which has the lightest scent? How many drops do you want to use of your essential oils? Where on your body do you plan on using the blend? How big is the bottle you are putting the product in? What therapeutic benefit are you seeking? These questions help us figure out how much to use based on the intended purpose.

Here’s a recipe I created that showcases the importance of Blending Factor.

This recipe takes into consideration the top, middle, and base note and the therapeutic benefits of the essential oils. In this recipe I formulated for relaxation and sleep.
